Curriculum Update

Bible
We fought in Jericho and now it is time to settle in the land. We will keep practicing Bible memory at school.

Psalm 24- Wednesday, Due May 10

Math
We will continue to practicing rounding up through 1,000. This week students will need to apply all multi-digit addition strategies. This will include drawing and explaining.
Math homework- Look for purple sheet in your anchor folder.

Social Studies- We had a wonderful trip to the Capitol and museum last week. Now it is time to use what we learned in our unit about government this week. Students will learn what a representative government is and why it is important.

Reading
We will continue poetry this week. Students are finding that many of the poems they are read sound silly. We will begin discussing figurative language and continue to jot down our observations about lines, stanzas, and rhyming.

Writing

 We are beginning the week by publishing our work using the Chromebooks in google classroom. We hope to record our essays using Audioboom so we can post our readings using QR codes during the Michigan Museum.

Curriculum Update




Bible
The Israelites have crossed the Jordan River and into the land of Canaan. We will cover the battle of Jericho and beginning of life in the promised land this week.

Psalm 24- Wednesday, Due May 10

Math
We will continue to study place value. Third graders will learn how to round numbers to the hundreds places as well as adding and subtracting through 1,000.
Math homework- Look for purple sheet in your anchor folder .

Social Studies- Our test will be on this week Tuesday, April 25.
We will talk about the branches of State government. We also have our Lansing trip scheduled for Thursday! Please see note in your child’s anchor folder for all the important information about this day!

Reading
We are moving into a new unit. Students will be learning about all the elements of poetry this week.

Writing

 We are writing a Michigan Essay. Last week third graders were able to research facts, pull in their own mini stories and outline the body of their Michigan Essay. This week students will be drafting conclusions, revising, and publishing our work using the Chromebooks in google classroom.
